Rails & Trails update meeting:

• ·         Bringing people up to speed on Sound Transit’s announcement to look at the rail line,
• ·         State bills affecting corridor (Rep. Loomis has a bill and there is one with regard to ports and RR’s),
• ·         Future ridership studies and trail construction.
• ·         Snohomish County has a plan for a Cathcart park & ride lot they want connected to the rail corridor.
• ·         We also have additional information on new technologies for grade crossings that can reduce whistle blowing
• ·         Studies on increased property values and
• ·         Rail/trails to answer questions raised at our sessions by property owners.

Future initiatives:

Organize interested parties into a Snohomish caucus for future public outreach that can operate with other communities through a Eastside TRailway steering committee along the corridor as the rail and trail proposal moves forward in 2008.

Scheduling a major Rails/Trails conference in Seattle in November as part of our Cascadia/Northwest Rail Congress.
